This is a book review for Bed of Rose and Thorns by Lee Hunt.
Bed of Rose and Thorns is unlike any other story I have read. Lee takes a simple idea of a knight who loves his queen and wants to protect her at all costs from her enemies, and turns it on its side and digs into the emotion, the dichotomy, and the magic that often gets glossed over in other stories. Here is a knight that is so in love that he literally rings with the emotion when in service of his beloved queen. And not only is it love, but rage as well. That two emotions and ideas that are seemingly opposites have the same roots.
This story takes the reader into the realm of the mind as the knight explores his desire to protect his queen and his love for her, all while in the physical realm he seeks to solve the mystery of who are her enemies and stopping them before they can get to her.
Full of vibrant imagery and strong emotions that manifest themselves physically in this fantasy world, Lee has created a unique story that will leave you wondering about the events that are transpiring in this world, all while reflecting upon yourself and your own emotions in your own life.
A must read for anyone who loves fantasy and books that make you look at the world a little differently.
